The Seaside Cottage Frangokastello are small holidayhomes with 2 sep. bedrooms ( accommodate 1-6 guests), living room with kitchen and private covered terrace. Only 50 m from the sandy beach Frangokastello. This complex of 8 simple bungalows are in the Southwest of Crete in Frangokstello, 75 km southwards of Chania Town. Frangokastello is a place of simplicity. Guests with an eye for luxury will not feel comfortable here. But it is a scenery for those seeking dream bays without crowds.

Location
75 km from Chania Town, only 50 m to the sandy beach of Frangokastello. The gently slopping beach is ideal for families with small children. The hinterland, the Askifou Plain, is the largest hiking area of Crete. The West & Soutnwest Coast of Crete is the region with the most nature protected areas like the lagoon Elafonissi, the Imbros Gorge, the Aradena Gorge, the National Park Samaria Gorge the Omalos Plain, the Agia Irini Gorge...

Frangokastello is located on the southwest coast of Crete, A discovery for all senses. You will be accompanied by the scents of wild herbs, cedar and cypress trees to the coast region to Frangokastello. While the surrounding canyons, valleys and plateaus of Frangokastello are very green, the coastal region is quite dry. This region has golden sandy beaches. Frangokastello is a paradise for ramblers,sun seekers, mountaineers and nature lovers, but not for luxury lovers. There are only a few small family run hotels and cottages. Getting to Frangokastello is easy. The motorway is well maintained and sign posted in latin letters. The motorway leads from the Askifou Plateau through some short tunnels to the south coast. What to do in the South-Coast Village Frangokastello:

Hiking around Frangokastello: 1. The Kallikratis Gorge, a light and short gorge hike (2.5 hours, round and back about 6 hours). Initially you walk on asphalt and later on well-paved roads. This walking tour is also possible with sports shoes and it can be done with children. This route is part of the European path E4. In summer it is very hot in this gorge, as there is no shade, so please pay attention to headgear. Mark for this trail is the yellow and black sign the European trail "E4". Frangokastello to Kallikratis Canyon: Drive towards Imbros, then towards Asfendos and then Kallikratis direction of Frangokastello. The walk starts at the local end of the village Kallikratis. The village is also worth a visit as it is in a small fertile valley. A small white church with a sundial adorns the place Kallikratis.
2.Walking through the Imbros Gorge a lovely experience for the whole family: From Frangokastello through the Imbros Gorge: a beautiful, pleasant and short hike (8.4 Km) it can be done with children. Drive from Frangokastello to the north to the village of Imbros, there is the entrance of the Imbros Gorge. The entrance currently costs 2 euros per person. The trail leads through a dried river bed (much rubble!) Mark for this walking tour are small cairns. This nice Gorge is not crowded.
Sport
This area is a paradise for hikers and sunbathers. The sun-drenched beaches of Southern Crete are very popular especially in the Autum and Winter Time.
