The city of Nafplion is located 136 km south of the capital Athenss. In Nafplion, Eastern Peloponnese, in the heart of the old town. Good starting point to see the Epidaurus Theater, Mycenae (24 km) and the excavations of Argos (just 12.4 km) and the Ancient Agora. Nafplion was the first capital of modern-day Greece.
Since 1832, Nafplion was the residence of Otto I, Greece's first (modern) king (the Bavarian Prince Otto, son of King Ludwig I of Bavaria). In 1834, the Greek capital was moved to Athenss. Nafplion and the surrounding area are always worth a visit.
