The village of Georgioupolis is on the north west coast of Crete, more or less in the middle between Chania and Rethymnon on one of Crete´s longest sandy beaches. The only freshwater lake on the Island about 8 km inland feeds several streams and these ensure that the hinterland of Georgioupolis blossoms in green.

Here are some organised tours we offering with pick up point Georgioupolis:
1. Full day - tour for bathing and snorkelin in the nature reserve Elafonissi.
Elafonissi is a lagoon in the South West of Crete and one of the most popular nature reserve of the Island. Sand dunes with fine sand enclose a large area. Small sandy islets are reachable on foot. The sea is so shallow here that one can walk from isle to isle. Coral reefs serve as wave breakers. Fine traces of red coral leave a deposit on the waterfront and offer a fantastic light show in the water. Driving southwards to the Lagoon Elafonissi you will see varied landscapes, all what Crete can offer. The Beach of Elafoniss is well organized. you will find there toilettes, a café and a small fast food restaurant, and a water-sport-centre for canoe and pedalos and stand up boards, there are also sun beds and sunshades for rent. On the offshore Island “Elafonissi” you will find a nature trail through the dunes.

Falassarna Beach, which is located on the west coast of Crete. Falassarna beach has been awarded for being the best beach in Crete and one of the top 10 beaches in Europe. It has light pick coloured sand and crystal clear waters with long magical waves coming in from the Mediterranean.
Falassarna is a nature reserve with dunes on the west coast of Crete. It extends over a length of about 2 km. Falassarna is a Paradise for surfing. There are two watersports-stations. The area consists of several sandy beaches and a few small apartment houses. There are two beach clubs with good music, where fast food is offered and 5 very good restaurants. The beach clubs also offer sun loungers and parasols (price for booth 2 chairs and an umbrella = 8 €,) There are no shops. On the big beach there are 2 watersports stations. Highlight in Falassarna are the excavations of the ancient port city Polirinia from the 6th century BC. The excavations are at the end of the bay, where it is rocky. My favorite place there is the carved stone throne. What for a function it had is still unclear. The throne is located south of the excavations and anyone can sit down in, what I naturally enjoyed!
