This sandy feature is typical of the South-coast. Xerokambos is situated 48 km southeast of the City Sitia. Xerokambos gives stunning views out over the dry heights and the Aegean blue, this landscape is realy arid with high mountains. The trademark of xerokampos are the two sandy beaches with turquoise waters. The vegetation is limited to macchia with herbs and some peaks with a few olive groves. In the last years Xerokambos developed as a slight tourist-area with some family run apartment-houses. There are some taverns, a supermarket and a petrol-station.
