Olympia

Olympia should actually be a place of pilgrimage for all athletes! A fascinating place not only for athletes! The archaeological site of Olympia, the sanctuary of Zeus, is located on the west coast of the Peloponnese. Patras in the administrative district of the Region Elis (Ilia), a chain of hills in the Alfios valley, approx. 50 km south of the city 18 km inland. The region is still very forested today (apart from the traces of some forest fires) and the microclimate has been pleasant since ancient times. Numerous cult buildings on the site of Olympia was finally included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

The first historical tangible date in history is the year 776 BC It was the first date were champions were rewarded. Since then, the Olympic Games, have taken place every four years.
